Piece by Piece

I have started work on the first set of paintings. The plan is to create a leaded glass effect. Here is the initial rough cut:

Not much time was spent at this stage, as the primary work on developing the hard line comes as the pieces are added in. This development can be seen here as the greens are placed.

In some ways, the process is not unlike building real glasswork, as each individual piece is placed, cut and fitted. (disclaimer: I have never made real leaded glass, don't try this at home). Leaving the initial sketch loose allows for adjustments in form as each piece is added.
