Ask for Help
When we ask for help, what are we asking for? I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me; I was found by those who did not seek me. To a nation that did not call on my name, I said, 'Here am I, here am I.' (Isaiah 65:1 NIV)Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." (Matthew 21:21-22 NIV)
I spend time in prayer, but am I looking for guidance or sanctification? In the tyranny of the urgent, it is easy to become impatient; praying for help while helping ourselves. In a time like this, as the church is acting in service, it is important to remember that God cannot be surprised. He is focused on the details. While we run around to put out fires; God is pulling hearts to avoid the flame entirely.
My hope is that as I seek to do His work, I seek His will.
