Color and Form
I started the washes for both paintings, adding some fundamental color to separate the shapes.
The actual form of the hands with a stream of oil flowing from the cup is more apparent with the washes. I then developed the colors a little more.
In the starting stages, the colors are very bright. As I work more on adding depth and shadow the vibrancy will lessen. The glazes are done with a mix of pigment and gloss medium, which is what brings the apparent glow to the work. When finished, I varnish the work with a duller gloss to tone down the reflection.
