Backdrop

The backdrop is ready for the three panels. Each section awaits the simple tree to tell the story. I am not sure yet whether I will work on the compositions in sequence or together. They fit well together, but by painting them in order, I may have an opportunity to consider the impact of each message separately.

If you have seen my previous progressions, you may notice I am taking a different approach to this work, moving away from underpainting with glazes, and using a direct application of color. A subject such as this lends itself more toward the matte, soft colors that blending provides. In some ways, I am doing two steps at once; creating composition and value together. Hopefully both will not suffer as a result.
